Hello everyone!

This has been like the longest hiatus ever... but I'm finally coming back. I just had my internet installed into my brand new apartment in Beckley, WV and I can finally access LJ again from home. :) You can tell I've been gone awhile- there are 140 new messages in my inbox. V_V

Fun facts about my new life in Beckley:

  • I am SO GLAD I took this new teaching job! I love going to school every day to work with 8th graders in English. Some days they frazzle me to no end but they are a joy to work with.

  • I am quite the cook if I do say so myself! I've never been on my own before and I truly enjoy cooking meals right now. I'm sure it will change when I get married and it becomes a chore... but right now I'm having fun with recipes. Tonight's dinner is tacos. :D

  • This town is fantastic. Everything I need to go to is within a 10 minute distance- grocery, credit union, walmart, etc.... I'm not even in the middle of the city- I'm on the outer edge and it only takes 20 minutes to drive down the mountain (yes, a legit mountain) to my middle school each day.

I will hopefully find some time to do some real posts later this week. I just finished all my lesson plans for this upcoming week. I know that I'm going home next weekend to finish moving down some of the stuff I didn't take the first time (i.e. my book collection) so... we shall see!
Hi friends! I'll be posting this to pkmncollectors tomorrow. If you're interested in anything just let me know. :D The first couple items will be up for offers on the community but if you make an offer beforehand I will be happy to sell it to a friend instead. ^_^
Long story short... I'm moving to another state in just a couple days! Massive collection weeding and super cheap sales ahead!

I got a job offer!!!!!!! So many crazy things have happened this week:

-Tuesday I randomly apply for West Virginia teaching positions on a whim (which is a minimum of two hours from home).
-Wednesday I get a call from the principal at a west virginia middle school (four hours from home) asking if I would be available for a phone interview
-Thursday I speak with the principal and his teacher interview committee over the phone
-TEN MINUTES after I hang up he calls back and immediately offers me the position!

Needless to say I will be teaching 8th grade English (literature and writing) in less than two weeks! I just feel so blessed. <3

Tomorrow my mom, her friend, and myself are all going down to WV. We will look for apartments and survey the community and town to make sure it is the place I want to be. Monday I tour the school and get to see my classroom and sign the contract for the year. :)

Any advice???? I have never lived away from home before! Give me apartment-hunting tips and advice on moving out and getting started all on my own for the first time in my life! Pretty please?? ^_^

I will give more info about the school and why I feel that it is the perfect position for me tomorrow. I am so excited!

Leaving for vacation this evening! The members of my dad's family (+ Chad) are going to Hilton Head until July 1... so I may be hard to get ahold of. I will have my tablet, but no laptop!

Also, just for general excitement... I had my first permanent teaching job interview yesterday. I think it went well... they'll be calling to set up second interviews in two weeks. :X

When I get back I will be much better at updating my journal. It's been awhile and I really miss it! <3

Welcome to my journal, lovelies! I'm so excited to have added so many new friends these past days. I really look forward to getting to know more people on here. <3 I never actually posted an "intro" in my journal before, so I'm sure many people will like to learn a bit about me and my life. I will use lots of pictures so this will be exciting!!! Without further ado...

My real name is andrea, my internet alias is godudette [literally, everywhere] and I am a 22 year old female studying to be an English teacher someday! I am all done with classes and only have one more semester of college left... I will be student teaching from January to May at a local middle school. I am teaching reading and writing to 8th graders and am very excited to start! This is me:

Everything else under the cut!Collapse )

So that's a quick glimpse into my life. I'm sorry it couldn't be more exciting. D: I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!

It's been a really, really rough week. Cram a viewing, funeral, and thanksgiving celebration into three days and it is bound to be exhausting. The viewing... oh my gosh. So many people loved my dad. We were there from 1 til 5:30 and then from 6:30 til midnight. The actual viewing times were from 2-4 and 7-9. People stood in line for over three hours just to shake hands with the family or give a hug.

I just want to thank everyone who left me a message of encouragement. I promise that I will reply to everyone... it is just a lot to cope with at this point. You know how when you are upset and someone asks "Are you okay?" that it just seems to make you worse? That's what I feel like.

Should I feel guilty if I can still find some spots of happiness at this stage? Tonight my siblings, mom and I watched a family movie... we managed to laugh at the funny parts, but it feels wrong without dad being there. He would probably want us to still be happy but how do I cope with that guiltiness in the midst of such sorrow?

Sorry, this entry is a little scattered. I've just got lots of thoughts going on in my head still. Thank you for reading... and thank you again for all of the support. I love the friends I have met on LJ and every little note of encouragement means the world to me. Thank you.

My father passed away yesterday evening after a tragic motorcycle accident. My entire family is breaking apart in grief and I'm not sure how tHings are going to turn out... Just know that I won't be around for a while.

If you pray, please think of us. My younger sister katie, 16, saw his body on the side of the road at the accident scene. She is being so strong but I know she is falling apart on the inside. My brother Luke is trying to be the father now but he is only 19. And I'm the oldest (Andrea, 22) and feel so helpless right now.... I don't even know what to say about my mom. Everything feels impossible.

I'm sorry. I'm just trying to learn how to cope with this.

Not only did I manage to find two new charms . . . and purchase them . . . but they arrived in the mail on the same day!

Yes, the Rayquaza charms are different! The one in the center is my new one- its the US DX charm release. The smaller JP release was actually my first charm. :)

And here they are with the matching Pokedoll!

You know, I'm starting to finally believe that completing this collection may actually be possible. Just maybe.

It's day two of my fantastic summer job spree! :D During the full year I work at customer service in a grocery store. For two weeks in July and August I work at the Pennsic War...

Daily work schedule til August 11th: Pennsic 10-4, Giant Eagle 4:30 - 11pm. Don't expect to see me around here as much as usual!

What is Pennsic, you ask? Pennsic is the largest medieval renaissance fair in the world! There are roughly 13,000 folks in attendance this summer.

Pictures of PennsicCollapse )

I work in the produce/ice cream area run by the owners of Cooper's Lake. It's a fun job because there are always events going on and people to watch! Just wanted to share some photos since this is a really cool event. I'll be busy working these next two weeks so communication may be a bit delayed on my part if you send a message.

I hope to actually take some pictures of the event this year to share. :D Feel free to ask any questions if you're interested in this kind of thing. It's my fourth year working so I've learned a lot!
